Forms, popups, and advanced content
Documentation scope: Guild 0.1.x pre-release builds. The exact public release version will be confirmed in the changelog before Theme Store publication.
Use this guide for customer forms, search fields, popups, external services, gift cards, and custom insertion points.
Contact and search forms
Use Contact form for Shopify-native customer inquiries. The Contact form preset includes a practical contact layout, while the Search box preset creates a standalone Shopify search field for pages that need an additional search route outside the Header.
Use Newsletter form for email signup. Confirm Shopify customer and email marketing settings before troubleshooting missing signups.
The Password section owns Shopify's storefront password form. Add Password field and a submit Button directly inside that section; it is not a customer account login form.
Popups
Use Popup for focused announcements, newsletter prompts, or an age-verification gate. A blocking age verifier should always provide a clear confirmation action and should be tested with keyboard navigation before publishing.
Use Product details popup when a product page needs a focused informational dialog built from Product blocks such as pickup availability, Back-in-stock request, Product details, metafields, prices, badges, or galleries. Apps and Purchase controls are unavailable directly in the section picker. Standard Product layout blocks retain their normal nested child options. It uses the current Product and produces no storefront output outside Product pages. A top-level Product gallery can become the popup's leading media; galleries nested in standard Product layout blocks stay in their composition.
External services
Use Google map only after replacing sample addresses and reviewing the store's privacy and consent setup.
Use Custom HTML or Custom Liquid only for trusted content that cannot be created with built-in settings. Provider scripts, forms, widgets, and social embeds remain controlled and supported by their provider or code author.
Gift card
Use Gift card only for Shopify-issued gift card pages. The section supports the redemption code, balance, QR code, Copy and Print actions, Apple Wallet when Shopify provides a pass URL, and optional recipient, message, and status details. App blocks are not supported in the Gift card section.
Review checklist
- Submit contact and newsletter forms on a real preview URL.
- Test success and error states, required fields, and keyboard focus.
- Check popup open, close, confirmation, and repeated-visit behavior.
- Review external-service privacy, cookies, performance, and accessibility.
- Duplicate the theme before adding Custom HTML, Custom Liquid, or third-party scripts.
